Meet Laura – Project Manager

I grew up in Cornwall and hold a strong affinity for the county, feeling so privileged to be able to call this beautiful part of the world my home. This appreciation was strengthened after moving away to study in Sussex before spending several years living and working in South Africa, where I established and ran a tourism business. On my return, I took some time out to enjoy motherhood before launching myself back into professional life, taking up the fantastic opportunity to work for VisitCornwall just as they were launching their now award winning website, visitcornwall.com. It was an incredibly exciting time for the team as well as tourism in the county and during my time there I established some solid and wide reaching relationships, which I still maintain today.

After a year I chose to move across to the pioneering Aerohub Enterprise Zone team, an extremely high profile project that pushed my capabilities and enabled me to grow and evolve professionally. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the project but found that I was yearning to move back into tourism and when I was offered the position of marketing manager with Retallack Resort & Spa, I jumped at it. The role entailed heading up the marketing across a 5* resort including The Green Room restaurant, run by 2008 MasterChef winner James Nathan, and the county’s only FlowRider.

Having worked in tourism and leisure throughout my professional working life, I was well acquainted with the names “Dave Meneer”, “Phil Gendall” and “Jo Downie” and feel utterly honoured to now be working as part of such an experienced, creative and forward thinking team. I love the constant variety that is at the very heart of a Project Manager role and believe my previous expertise perfectly suit the tourism, food and leisure offerings that Wolf Rock specialise in.

When not immersing myself in all things marketing, I love nothing more than getting out and exploring Cornwall. I am a total beach lover and am happiest with sand between my toes and the sea breeze on my face. Mother to a young son and a rather bouncy Patterdale terrier, weekends often find us jumping in the car and heading off for an adventure.
