Rodda’s is one of Cornwall’s oldest and most successful food brands — and as a innovative business is continually looking for new ways to use milk. When an opportunity came up to work with an award making cheese maker, Rodda’s took the sensible view that cheese and clotted cream should be kept separate in consumer’s minds. They recruited Wolf Rock to create an entirely new standalone brand for the cheese. This needed to have provenance and authenticity by the spade — but as an entirely new product, it was without any brand heritage. We created a name and brand platform based on a range of village characters, each one personifying a specific cheese — then followed through with branded packaging, illustration, website, photography, and exhibition collateral. The launch has been a phenomenal success, with demand far exceeding expectation, as the disruptive brand idea has captured the imagination of customers and the media alike.
